Vanessa Matthys studied jazz-singing with David Linx at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and at the "Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse" in Paris.

She attended masterclasses given by Sheila Jordan (USA), Dena DeRose (USA), Billy Hart (USA), Kristina Fuchs (SCH), Hein van de Geyn (N), Dré Pallemaerts (B), Nicolas Thys (B), Bill Carrothers (USA),…
She played and/or recorded with Bill Carrothers, Drew Gress, Ricardo Del Fra, Roger Vanha, Frank Deruytter, Dré Pallemaerts, Bart Denolf, Jan De Haas, Luc Vanden Bosch, Serge Plume, Dominique Vantomme and Marc Matthys.

In 2006 she was awarded the "Rotary Cultuur prijs" in Kortrijk. In 2009 she collaborated on a recording with Dré Pallemaerts and David Linx. In the summer of 2009 she's a finalist of the "Dinant Jazz Competition" with the a capella group "The Brussels Vocal Project". In june 2010 the group has the honour to collaborate on a tribute concert to Pierre Van Dormael with Aka Moon and David Linx.

Vanessa played at the Dinant Jazz Festival, Ferragudo Jazz Festival (Portugal), Jazz festival Fareins (France), Louvre (Paris, France), Centre Pompidou (Paris, France), Cultura Nova Festival Heerlen (the Netherlands)

In 2010 she founded her own international quartet with Dominique Vantomme (piano), Werner Lauscher (bass) and Geert Roelofs (drums).
