Gert-Jan Dreessen

With 18 he began studying with Dré Pallemaerts, Frank Vaganée and many others at the Conservatory in Leuven, where he finished his bachelor degree. After a winter semester receiving lessons from Jonas Burgwinkel at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz he went to study at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp by Stéphane Galland and many others.
Thanks to a grant of the Royal Conservatory he was able to obtain classes from Pablo Held, Jochen Rueckert, Jim Black and others.
With his band FONS. and their collaboration with Logan Richardson at Jazz Middelheim 2018, Gert-Jan gained recognition. In that same year he was chosen by the Royal Conservatory Antwerp to contribute with the Antwerp Jazz Orchestra ft. Bert Joris and Joshua Redman.
He is also very active as sideman in various projects like the Karel Cuelenaere Trio, Jos Moons Quintet, Roeland Celis Quintet, Rob Vanspauwen Quartet, Kim in the Middle, and others. Furthermore, this year he begun on a journey as a solo artist (www.private-jungle.com), where he is combining jazz with his new-found love of live electronics.
