Lionel Beuvens started playing drums right away. He entered the academy at the age of 12 and was introduced to jazz by Antoine Cirri and Nathalie Loriers. He then took part in various summer workshops, where he met Billy Hart. A 2004 graduate of the Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel, he also studied at the Lemmens Instituut with Dré Pallemaerts and Pierre Van Dormael, and at the Den Haag Conservatory.
He is a member of several groups: Sabin Todorov trio, Steven Delannoye trio, Christian Mendoza trio, Peter Hertmans quartet,...
He has also formed his own group, Grass Monkeys, and taken part in several recording projects (Chroma, Alien Bitesize, Après un rêve, Sabin Todorov trio, Peter Hertmans quartet).
