Théo Lanau

Théo Lanau is a drummer, improviser and composer from the southwest of France. He discovered jazz at the college of Marciac, then studied at the Agostini Toulouse drum school and in the conservatories of Paris, Budapest and Brussels.
In constant research, Théo Lanau ventures into all genres and aesthetics with an open mind. He is thus very active on the rock, jazz and alternative scenes with many bands such as Limite, Soror, Le Bal de Marie Galante, Amaury Faye Trio, Terpsichore, Mobilhome, Pétrole and Omega Impact, to name a few. He is also developing his own compositions with Le Grand Partir, whose first EP was released in early 2022. He founded the label Bêtes Records in 2022. And he is one of the organizers of the Pool Sessions, a series of concerts offering a program of adventurous music in small spaces.
Always eager to experiment, he works regularly with contemporary composers such as Tom Aldrich, Graham Flett, Grzegorz Marciniak or Pak Yan Lau, and participates in improvised music performances with many musicians including Yannick Dupont, Vitja Pauwels, Bart Maris, Lynn Cassiers, Giotis Damianidis, Richard Comte, Hendrik Lasure, Jordi Grognard, Benjamin Sauzereau, Manolo Cabras, Gábor Gadó, Péter Ajtai, Beñat Achiary, Théo and Valentin Ceccaldi, Maxime Petit, Sam Comerford and Sylvain Darrifourcq.
Previously, he was notably heard in the electro pop band Bobun Fever, the improvised rock trio Roue Libre and the Franco-Indian project Spicy Frog. He has recorded for more than fifteen albums, several of which have been critically acclaimed. He has performed in many countries in Europe, from Portugal to Poland, but also in Cape Verde, Brazil, India and Canada.
