Bas studied at The Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Rob van Bavel and at the School for Advanced Art Studies in Utrecht with Bert Van den Brink . Bas also followed some master classes with Barry Harris, Fred Hersch and others. He works as a free-lance musician with several artists, musicians and groups in jazz and popmusic.
In Belgium and in Europe he played with Jean Warland Trio, Richard Rousselet, Ronny Verbiest, Phil Abraham, Toots Thielemans, Deborah Brown, Judy Niemack, Art Farmer, Clark Terry, Archie Shepp, Ronald Douglas,…
He is also teaching and he co-ordinates the Jazz Department at the Conservatory of Ostend .
On 2011, he starts a new Trio with Bart De Nolf and Bruno Castellucci
